The coin is dedicated to 2500 Years of the ancient town of Yevpatoria. At the turn of 6-th and 5-th centuries B.C. in the period of Greek colonization, an ancient town of Cerkinitidus appeared there. It was first mentioned in written sources by Hecateus of Miletus, later - by Herodotus, Ptolemy and Arrian. Today Yevpatoria is an All-Ukrainian child health centre, climatic, balneal and mud health resort On the coin reverse at the top against the background of sea there is a collage made of depictions of architectural monuments and modern buildings; in the centre there is a two-lined inscription: ЄВПАТОРІЯ, 2500 років (Yevpatoria / 2500 Years). In the foreground there is depicted an amphora with a sea gull sitting on it. On the coin obverse there is a conventionalized image of the sun and sea, above - there is the coin issue year: 2003, below there are engraved the small National Emblem of Ukraine and inscriptions: УКРАЇНА, 5 ГРИВЕНЬ (Ukraine/ 5/ hryvnia), as well as the Mint logotype of the National Bank of Ukraine
