Ilya Mikhaylovich Frank (b. 23 October 1908; d. 22 June 1990) – physicist, laureate of the Nobel price (1958) for the research of Vavilov-Cherenkov effect. His main works are in the fi eld of theoretic and experimental research of physical characteristics of plasma, astrophysics, radiowaves and acceleration of particles. Under guidance of Frank the impulsive speedy neutron reactor was built. The obverse: in the centre - the emblem of the Bank of Russia [the two-headed eagle with wings down, under it - the semicircular inscription "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA)] framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim - on top: "ДВА РУБЛЯ" (TWO RUBLES), below: to the left - indications of the precious metal and its fineness, in the centre - the year of issue "2008 г." (2008), to the right - the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.
