The age of the Enlightenment in architecture was a time when a great number of buildings of different kinds were erected. A masterpiece of the XVIIIth century church architecture is the Trinity Cathedral of the Alexandro-Nevskaya Lavra, which was founded by Peter the Great as the principal Petersburg monastery dedicated to the Trinity and canonised Prince Alexander Nevsky. Built in 1776-1790 (architect Ivan Starov), the Trinity Cathedral is the compositional center of the Lavra. a view of the Trinity Cathedral of the Alexandro-Nevskaya Lavra and the depiction of the Order of Alexander Nevsky.
