Ivan Aivazovsky (1817–1900) was a Russian marine
painter, famous for his seascapes and naval battle scenes.
He also painted Crimean, Caucasian and European
landscapes, religious and historical scenes. During his life,
he created more than 6,000 paintings. One of his most
famous works is “The Ninth Wave” (1850)
