The coin is dedicated to the Sorochynsky Fair, a genuine merchant festival which was poetized by Mykola Hohol in one of his tales of the `Nights in the Khutor near Dykan`ka` series.
On the coin reverse there is a multi -figured composition, typical for a country fair of 19th-20th centuries; above there is a semicircular inscription: СОРОЧИНСЬКИЙ ЯРМАРОК (Sorochynsky Fair)
On the coin obverse in the centre and against the background of the Ukrainian landscape there is a depiction of Mykola V.Hohol and Rudy Panko, his literary character, above there is the semicircular inscription: УКРАЇНА (Ukraine), beneath - the small National Emblem of Ukraine, 20-05, the coin mintage year and the inscriptions: 5/ ГРИВЕНЬ (5/ hryvnia), as well as the logotype of the NBU Mint is depicted
