Ukraine 2 Hryvni 2004 - Yuri Fedkovych

The coin is dedicated to 170th anniversary of Yurii Fedkovych (1834-1888), an innovative writer, poet, ethnographer, specialist in folklore, playwright and public figure. Being a son of the Ukrainian Carpathian region, Yurii (Osyp) A.Fedkovych is a folk author, one of the pioneers of the national Renaissance in Bykovyna region. On the coin reverse there is a portrait of Yuri Fedkovych, to the right from which an inscription ЮРІЙ ФЕДЬКОВИЧ(Yurii Fedkovych) and his years of life: 1834 - 1888 are depicted. On the coin obverse a composition is depicted which personifies a patriotic, heroic and romantic trend in the creative work of Fedkovych: a horseman holding a hatchet in his hand defending swallows from a bird of prey. To the left from the composition there is the coin mintage year: 2004, under which there is the small National Emblem of Ukraine and the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine; to the right there is a three-lined conventionalized inscription : УКРАЇНА (Ukraine) and the coin face value: 2 ГРИВНІ (2 hryvnia).
