The coin is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Kruty (29 January 1918), the event that came into the history of Ukraine as a heroic deed of three hundred Kyivan students, who defended the Independence of Ukrainian People`s Republic against the Bilshovyk troops. On the coin reverse there is a two-part composition, which reflects the historic moment of two forces withstanding : static figures of young heroes as personification of defense of the Independence of the Ukrainian the - at the left and a stretched arm which directs attacking mounted troops as an allegory of the Bilshovyk intervention - on the right.
