The obverse has: in the upper left-hand corner – the relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus; in the center – the relief image of pharaoh Amenhotep IV (Akhenaten) with his wife, Queen Nefertiti; inscriptions: on the left – РЭСПУБЛІКА (THE REPUBLIC), at the top – БЕЛАРУСЬ (OF BELARUS); at the bottom – the denomination: 20 РУБЛЁЎ (20 RUBLES) and the year of issue to the right of it.
